During the Senate Committee on Public Accounts Public Hearing on the Auditor General’s 2019 annual report, I stressed the need for a comprehensive re-orientation of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. his intervention is crucial to prevent the recurrence of issues uncovered in our findings. The Ministry must take concrete steps to address these gaps, establishing robust measures to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective resource management. I urge the Ministry to promptly rectify these lapses and ensure more efficient and responsible use of public resources for their intended purposes in the promotion of the nation’s agricultural sector, rural development and food security.
