BANIGO ADVANCES CONSTITUENCY DEVELOPMENT WITH DISTRIBUTION OF KEKE MINI BUSES, MARKET COMMISSIONING IN DEGEMA
The Senator representing Rivers West Senatorial District has continued to demonstrate her commitment to grassroots development with the distribution of Keke mini buses and the commissioning of the Obuama Modern Market in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The empowerment programme involved the distribution of eighteen (18) Keke mini buses worth millions of naira to beneficiaries across Degema, Bonny, Akuku-Toru, and Asari-Toru Local Government Areas. The initiative is aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, creating employment opportunities, and improving the socio-economic wellbeing of constituents.
In the same vein, the Senator commissioned the Obuama Modern Market in Harry’s Town, a project conceived to provide a structured and conducive environment for trading activities within the community. The market comprises 32 lock-up shops and 48 open shops, making a total of 80 shops, including eight (8) restroom units, a slaughter area, and a borehole to ensure water supply.
Speaking at the event, Senator Banigo stated that the projects were borne out of the needs of the people, particularly the absence of a functional marketplace for residents to sell their farm produce and conduct business.
She noted that the initiative is part of broader efforts to stimulate economic activities, empower youths, and improve livelihoods across Rivers West Senatorial District.
The Senator also urged beneficiaries of the Keke mini buses to make effective use of the opportunity, maintain the vehicles properly, and avoid selling them.
The event was well attended by prominent sons and daughters of the community, including His Royal Highness Dr. Christian Numbere Princewill Amachree, Regent of Kalabari Kingdom and His Royal Highness, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, Amayanabo of the Source, Torusarama-Piri, alongside other traditional rulers, stakeholders, and beneficiaries who expressed appreciation for the impactful projects.
These initiatives reaffirm Senator Banigo’s dedication to people-centered governance and sustainable constituency development.
