At the interactive session of the Senate Committee on Health with the Coordinating Minister, Muhammad Ali Pate, I assured the legislature’s support in the mobilization of resources and in addition, ensuring the appropriate and effective oversight of all government parastatals.

Nigeria requires a significant infusion of financial resources into the health sector and thus urges the federal government to prioritize healthcare by allocating more funding. This investment will not only improve health outcomes but also boost productivity and reduce poverty.

In accordance with the provisions of Section 25 of the NHIA Act, the Vulnerable Group Fund (VGF) should be established through a Special Intervention Fund allocated by the Government and appropriated to the Vulnerable Group Fund in the 2024 Budget.

To also ensure effective legislative oversight, the executive will continue to have these dialogues and information exchange to foster a collaborative environment; enabling the legislature and executive to achieve a shared goal of revamping our Health Sector.
