After conducting an investigative hearing on the persistent denial of treatment and care to victims of gunshot wounds and other emergencies, as well as the urgent need to ensure compliance with the Compulsory Treatment and Care for Victims of Gunshot Act, 2017, and addressing the nationwide strikes by Resident Doctors, organized by the joint committees on Health (Secondary and Tertiary), Federal Capital Territory, and Police Affairs, we embarked on an investigative visit to the Maitama General Hospital, Abuja.

Our objective was to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the case of late Greatness Olorunfemi, a victim of “one chance,” who was brought to the hospital.

Crucial to acknowledge the urgent need for an overhaul of our healthcare sector to ensure quality healthcare delivery nationwide. As Chairman Senate Committee on Health, we committee commit to overseeing the comprehensive revitalization of our healthcare facilities and enhancing emergency preparedness and response plans across the nation.

We extend our gratitude to the FCT Minister for promptly initiating a committee in response to this emergency response incident of our late Ms. Greatness Olorunfemi.
