At the Ministerial Roundtable Meeting on Rethinking Malaria Elimination in Nigeria, I expressed my gratitude to the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Muhammad Pate, and the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alaua, for convening this very crucial Ministerial Roundtable Meeting on Rethinking Malaria Elimination in Nigeria in a concerted effort to improving the Health outcomes for all Nigerians.
From the outset of my tenure as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, I have made it a priority to champion initiatives that promote Universal Health Coverage and ensure the well-being of all Nigerians. We recognize that malaria poses a significant threat to our nation’s health security, and addressing this challenge requires concerted efforts at all levels.
Our Legislative Health agenda is guided by principles of Effective Stewardship and Accountability. We understand the crucial role that adequate funding plays in combating malaria and other health threats. However, allocating funds is just one part of the equation. We must also ensure that these resources are utilized efficiently and effectively through our oversight functions that ensures transparency and accountability in the use of appropriated funds. I call on all stakeholders to join us in our efforts to Eliminate Malaria in Nigeria once and for all.
